PERSONIFICATION
The road to trusting God, and defeating all fear.
The one place in scripture that teaches extensively on Faith is, Hebrews chapter 11 and verse 6.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
There's something important in this scripture, and that is; "he that cometh to God must believe that he is,"
This means that before a person comes to God, God expects the individual to believe that "he is real."
But what does this have to do with personification? Let's look at what God told Joshua in the Bible, the 9th verse of the first chapter in the book of Joshua; God reveals the cure for all fear.
Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
There it is! The cure for fear: and it is having the knowledge that, "the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
You see many Christians are easily perturbed, and it is all due to the lack of the consciousness of His presence. This is where personification comes in, doing what is in this article will help you sustain the consciousness of God's presence with you.
It is quite difficult for any rational person to trust something he/she doesn't consider real or have some level of intelligence. The likes of Cortana, Alexa, and even Siri, all integrated seamlessly into human lives because of intelligence, and everyone enjoys having someone to rely on, someone to work alongside them or look after them. Now the beauty of this is the fact that these AI virtual assistants were given a voice; you talk to it, and it'll talk back and even take an action on your behalf.
Some of us might not know, but that gave the AI's some sort of personification in our mind, it made it more real; took it from a mere software to having some individuality.
Children playing with their dolls or having an imaginary friend, when observed closely, you'd notice they gave human characteristics to that thing. How? One way is by talking to it, and there's a key here, something we can all practice to see it's truth.
To do this, choose any object in your home and talk to it frequently like you'd do with a friend, and before a week you'd notice some sort of personification has been given to that object.
This is the power of personification; it can make anything real to you; you only have to talk to it.
Now what does this have to do with trusting God? Well, man is incapable of committing himself or his trust to anything that isn't personified like himself, or at least connected to a person. If something cannot communicate back to a man in any way or form, it isn't personified to him, and therefore he cannot trust it or consider it real.
Seeing as this understanding has been established, the next question to ask is, how much trust is God asking for? The same level of trust you'd give to a stranger who gives you directions on an unfamiliar route; as you took that individuals word for it, you should also take his word for it.
How then can we come to this level of trust, the scripture has the answers:
1 Corinthians 1: 2 (MSG) "I include in my greeting all who call out to Jesus, wherever they live."
Something in this scripture caught my attention; it is the part that mentions, "all who call out to Jesus." Think about this for a second; the early church had the personal practice of calling aloud the lord Jesus; they were that expressive. This interested me so much that I made it my tradition to call out his name and talk to him like he wasn't far and could actually hear me. After almost a week of doing this consciously and consistently, he suddenly became more real to me and I could walk with the consciousness of him.
You must understand the facts: Jesus is alive, he ascended to heaven in a physical body, and that means he is in a physical place. So when you call out his name, don't let your mind wander like the wind; focus on his person, like you are addressing an individual next to you.
I shared this knowledge with you dear reader, so your walk with him can become real and true, so you can experience the lord Jesus like the early church did.
As I always say, don't take my word for it beloved; prove it for yourself, and you will know what is true.
Thank you.
God bless you.
